Bride and Groom: Tanya & Richard

Wedding Date: 7 March 2014

Ceremony Location: Sunset Glade, Roma Street Parklands

Tell us about your vision for your wedding:

We wanted something simple, vintage and to incorporate a hint of the tropics (I grew up in the tropics and we both love tropical places).

Tell us about what Brisbane Wedding Decorators provided for your ceremony:

They listened to what I wanted, set up the ceremony, and even collected frangipanis (as well as used the ones I provided) and decorated the ceremony area… and this was done all arranged over email!!! FANTASTIC!

Tell us about your reception:

We had our reception at Wesley House, 140 Ann St Brisbane CBD. City view location and a blank canvas to do whatever you like.

Sage Café (Jamie) catered the event. The view and the food were the most talked about features of our wedding, which was exactly what we wanted – good food, good view!

What we loved

We loved hanging out with our nearest and dearest – family and friends.

We had a small wedding (58 guests) so it was just a lovely number. Don’t get me wrong, it was a very overwhelming day and the usual stress leading up to a wedding, I think what made it so grand was after the reception, our closets friends all went out in the city afterwards and recapped the night and ended it with such fun!

Describe your experience with Brisbane Wedding Decorators:

Incredibly easy to work with. Like I said, everything was planned over email, which when leading up to a wedding the less stress the better.

The booking form was great and allowed me to add and take away bits of the set up to make the set up as personalised as possible. And the fact that Cara walked around the gardens and picked up fallen frangipani’s to add to our ceremony was just amazing!

Tell us about any of your wedding suppliers that you were impressed with and why:

Angeline Sees Photography – Great at capturing real, un-posed, natural photos! A real eye for capturing emotion.

Hair: Kim Snare – the best in the business!

Make-up: Lucy Knott, very professional and very affordable! (I am a makeup artist in a previous career so she was fantastic!)

Sage Café: amazing food, amazing owner (Jamie). We had a banquet style menu and it was beautiful.

Get a Photobooth: Hamish is the booker and he was very accommodating with times for set up etc. It was such a hit at the reception!

Florist: Diamond Flower Co – I was blown away with the flowers we received. They were more then I ever imagined. She really enjoys her work and you can tell that through her art.

A word of advice to bride and grooms to be:

Pick a theme and stick to it and as hard as it is, do what you want to do – not what others expect of you.

Keep track of your expenses on a worksheet. Keep it simple, keep it to people you know want to celebrate this day with you and book a honeymoon!!!

A Modern Romantic Rose Garden Wedding at Newstead House

We were thrilled to be chosen by Nicole and Michal for their modern day rose garden wedding at Brisbane’s iconic Newstead House.

The bride Nicole was particularly drawn to an old bench surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens so using the bench as the central focal point, we created their Newstead House ceremony set up.

Our stunning elegant arch perfectly framed the bride and groom during their sweet ceremony and also during the signing of the register which took place on that very special bench entwined with rose garlands.Image Image

Our fresh white americana chairs and chic white wedding aisle completed the set up, with florals adding a gorgeous touch to the aisle chairs. It was surprisingly warm for a morning wedding so thankfully the guests were well looked after with our super chilled aqua bar.

The happy couple departed with their bridal party in a stretched limo and continued the celebrations with a lunchtime wedding reception at the nearby Eves on the River. Wishing this super sweet couple every happiness for their future together.

A vintage styled Roma Street Parklands wedding at Sunset Glade

We were so excited when we received the brief for Tanya and Richards wedding, ‘an elegant vintage feel with a hint of the tropics’.

This brief gave such an exciting twist on the classical vintage wedding styling that we often see and unleashed the opportunity to incorporate an abundance of fresh colourful and gorgeously fragrant tropical florals in to this stunning Roma Street Park ceremony setup.

Guests arrived to see the area beautifully decorated and were welcomed by our chalkboard signage with the couples personalised messages on each side, and an icy cool drink.

The bride and groom customised their ceremony styling by having a rose petal, peony petal and daisy aisle and we loved having several low trees on hand which we adorned with cute tree hanging décor like white wicker hearts, ‘love’ signs, glass globes containing fresh florals and more.

The couple incorporated in to their wedding theme several words that were significant to their day, like ‘family’ ‘friends’ ‘love’ and more, so we blended this theme in to the ceremony styling by subtlety incorporating these words.

The couple wrote vows to each other and enjoyed a really great ceremony which involved all the guests, on a beautiful day with a stunning set up surrounded by a close group of family and friends. We loved witnessing them locking eyes and sharing a beautiful connection as they tied the knot.

We had the honour of having the very talented Lindy Photography capture the styling for this very special day. Thank you Lindy for capturing such beautiful images.

Introducing our gorgeous Romantic Ribbon Elegant Arch

To showcase our elegant arch draped in ribbons gently swaying in the breeze we enlisted the expertise of fantastic local photographer Brischetto, who captured this set up in New Farm Park perfectly (while also giving me some great tips and advice on using my camera so I can share our styling with you in the future!).

With an increasing trend for less formal and traditional ceremony set ups, we created a circular ceremony set up with our americana chairs and it looked so intimate and inviting with a subtle peaches and green ribbon theme!

A Harrigans Drift Inn wedding ceremony set up oozing with style, class and elegance

We were thrilled when Manda contacted us earlier this year with a description of the elegant wedding ceremony set up she envisioned. We love it when brides are brimming with great ideas and allow us to bring their vision come to life.

Harrigans Drift Inn ceremony set up styled by Brisbane Wedding Decorators

Before the wedding took place I met with Manda and Shane at Harrigans Drift Inn and I could see why they fell in love with this great venue. Tucked out of the way on the coast at Jacobs Well, the venue allows for a thoroughly enjoyable ceremony for all, with the ceremony, reception and photo shoot taking place all at the one location so no worrying about the logistics of getting guests from A to B. Not to mention the awesome Irish pub on site so guests can enjoy a pre or post ceremony drinkie or 2 in the comfort of this great venue.

We discussed where the ceremony would take place and we agreed that the wedding aisle would commence with Manda being walked between 2 trees. I instantly felt the urge to add some tree hanging décor to the 2 small trees, complimenting the couples theme and colours to add to the ceremony, thankfully I was on the same page with Manda and Shane with this.

Manda and Shane’s wedding was contemporary and elegant incorporating the colours black, white and silver. While keeping the majority of the décor white, this really enhanced the colours of the lovely long flowing graduated grey bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmens suits.

Manda visioned having 2 podiums containing a romantic array of cream coloured fresh florals creating a stunning entrance to the wedding aisle. We added a fresh rose petal aisle which really added to the romance of the day as Manda was walked down the aisle by her father who ‘gave her away’ and she held hands and locked eyes with her groom who was clearly in awe as he took in how beautiful his bride looked as she smiled back at him.

The ceremony took place with our elegant arch perfectly framing the bride and groom as they repeated their vows which were full of love and laughter to one another.

We take pride in our ceremony equipment being just as practical as it is beautiful and while it was a particularly windy day, our custom designed ceremony arch was strongly secured to the ground enabling it to stand strong and stable and withstand the strong winds on the day.

The arch was decorated with rose florals and fresh babies breath. We loved the dimension and femininity that these florals gave the arch.

After sharing their first kiss as husband and wife the couple made their way to the signing table, which was dressed with our fitted tablecloth another great practical item for potentially windy days as it sits snugly in place.

The bride and groom along with their witnesses signed their marriage certificates to the sound of the very fitting ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ by Stevie Wonder.

Following the signing the bride and groom were announced husband and wife and beaming with happiness they made their way back down the aisle, followed by their bridal party where they were showered with fragrant fresh rose petals by their guests, sharing in the excitement of the moment.

Following photos in the lovely grounds of this venue, the happy couple made their special entrance to the onsite marquee where their reception took place and they celebrated the night away.

Along with several other vendors that Manda and Shane carefully selected for their special day, we were over the moon to receive a sweet email from the bride at 9am the very next morning expressing their happiness and gratitude in the service we provided.
